After spending a wonderful evening out with Sonia & Emily recently, I've been thinking a lot about three things that apply to life and how it goes about it's course.
1. Growth 2. Maturity 3. Change
Let's take them in reverse order.
Change: As I stood in worship on Sunday I kept hearing the same words over and over and over (God likes to make sure you hear Him), He kept saying "That will change, things with change, YOU will change." I had not really stopped to consider this before, but it's 100% true. It's scary in some circumstances, but perfectly great in others. Most importantly, I'm happy that I have changed. I'm happy that my Joy is complete in Christ and with Him I am lacking nothing. More practically, I'm glad that my circumstances change (nearly everyday). Why is this? Because without a flux that is life - I can't become a grown up. I'd be stuck in the same mindset that I was when I was 5 or 6 if things always remained exactly the same in the natural... (you are picking up the movement to point 2 by now I'm sure).
Maturity: Merriam-Webster defines mature in the following way 1: based on slow careful consideration. My thought processes are becoming exactly this - slower, and more careful. This can only be the work of God, for if it was up to me - my decisions would never be slow - my thoughts, are far from slow and therefore - I know I'm maturing. A process ordained by God is occurring in my earthly cranium which will lead to His purposes... all of this requires growth... (that means point 1 coming up!)
Growth: I see growth in my life as acceptance of change happening. Taking hold of the change and moving forward with a cautious heart and mind. Cautious, but unabashedly following what the Holy Spirit has asked of me. Growth inevitably means I'm in a process. And so are you. I'm in a process (and pray I always will be) of becoming the person God intended me to be. This means on the great scale to love because He first loved me. To let Him guide me and not shrink back because of my circumstances, because they will always be in flux. God, will not be in flux, ever. This in my book, makes for a good reason to follow Him. Consistency is a good model for leadership.
